Subscribe to beverages with ‘every pass’: a new vending machine service for commuters

JR East Water Business Co. has announced the launch of “every pass” subscription service for beverage vending machines, which will start on 1 October (Tue) 2019 as the first service of its kind in Japan.

What is “every pass”?

The service can be used at up to 400 “innovation” vending machines, the newest model of vending machines installed at stations operated by East Japan Railway Company. Service subscribers can enjoy one beverage per day, which can be purchased by scanning a QR code supplied by smartphone app “acure pass”.

Users can choose from two plans: “acure made” plan and “premium” plan. By subscribing to “acure made” plan, users pay monthly subscription fee of 980 yen and can enjoy beverages by “acure made” brand. “Premium” plan subscribers pay monthly subscription fee of 2,480 yen and can purchase all beverages sold at “innovation” vending machines, including products by “acure made” brand and other beverage makers.

Assuming consumers would buy a drink for 150 yen each day of the month, the total amount spent on drinks would be 4,500 yen, which means consumers can benefit from subscribing to the “every pass” service.

※Drinks can only be purchased at “innovation” vending machines installed at stations operated by East Japan Railway Company.
※Subscription requires credit card registration.
