Learn ikebana at home with ‘hanaike’ flower service

Kyoto-based COGITO Inc has launched “hanaike” subscription service on 23 August 2019. The service involves regular delivery of a set of flowers together with video classes by well-known creators to subscribers.

The word “hanaike” refers to ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging. Every month subscribers can enjoy flowers chosen and arranged by ikebana experts. The flowers are accompanied by a video class narrated by a florist; in the video an expert explains about ikebana techniques used in the arrangement.

Learning materials contain a movie of step-by-step flower arranging process and also pictures and explanatory text, providing a customer experience of actual ikebana class participation while staying at home.

The experts of “hanaike” service include not only florists but also interior designers and architects who offer a broad range of ideas such as “flowers in our lives” and “enjoying flowers year round.”
